Directions to Aurora Skate Center
GPS: Use the intersection of Hill Ave. and Montgomery Road (in that order). The issue is, our address is an unincorporated number and GPS' can not register it correctly.
The following driving directions assume the reader is familiar with the main roads and understands that they are generalized directions. For detailed directions feel free to contact us via phone or email. Use the "Maps/Directions" button on the left for a Google Map link. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Directions coming from the North (Aurora Northside, North Aurora, Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, etc..)
The most direct route is to make your way to Kirk/Farnsworth Rd., then head south. Drive exactly 4.5 miles south of I-88 until you get to Montgomery Rd. (T intersection). Turn right/west and we are on the left (south side), just before the light. We share the parking lot with Parkside Lanes. Old-timers will remember the Hi-Lite Drive-In theater which was directly across the street.
Galena Blvd. is the best route through downtown Aurora if you come via Rt. 31 or 25. Take Galena south through Aurora. After coming up the long hill (a one-way street), Galena eventually bears to the right and becomes Hill Ave. Take Hill Ave. to the light (Montgomery Rd.) at the end of the golf course on your right. Look to the left at the intersection and you will see the parking lot shared by Parkside Lanes (a brick building) and Aurora Skate Center (a white building with a black domed roof).
Directions Coming from the South (Plainfield, Southern Naperville, South Aurora, South Oswego, etc...)
If you live in the Plainfield/Joliet area, southern Naperville, or in the southern portions of Aurora or Oswego with access to Route 30, make your way to Rt 30 and head North. Do not turn left or right at Ogden (30/34). Simply go North one more interval to the light at Montgomery Road (on what is now called Hill Ave./Bus. 30, past the white sports dome/bubble). You will see farm land on both sides of the road and as you approach the light you will see a brick building on the right corner, which is Parkside Lanes. We share the parking lot with Parkside Lanes. We are the white building with the black domed roof.
Directions Coming from the East (Naperville, Far East Aurora, Lisle, etc...)
The most direct route is to take Rt. 34 (Ogden) or 75th St. west.
From Ogden: From Rt. 59, count seven traffic lights (the sixth light is Eola and Waubonsie Valley High School), then turn right (North) at Montgomery Rd. We are on the left, just before the second light.
From 75th St: Go one light west of Rt. 59 (where 75th Ts at Ogden), then turn left (West). Count four traffic lights (the third light is Eola and Waubonsie Valley High School), then turn right (North) at Montgomery Rd. We are on the left, just before the second light.
From northern Aurora/Naperville: Take Eola south to McCoy (the first light past New York Ave.), turn right. Take McCoy west to Kautz (just where McCoy changes from 4 to 2 lanes), turn left. Kautz will T-stop at Montgomery Road, turn right. We are on the left, just before the second light.
Directions Coming from the West (Oswego, Yorkville, Plano, etc...)
If you live in the western area. (Oswego, Yorkville, Bristol, Plano, Sandwich, Sugar Grove, etc.), the most direct route is to make your way east on Rt. 30 or 34. When 30 and 34 meet (look for the Shell gas station), go to the next light (Ogden/Hill Shopping Center) and turn left (North). (That intersection is where Rt. 30 turns South.) Turning left (North) onto Hill Ave./Bus. 30 you will see the white sports dome/bubble on your right. The second light is at Montgomery Rd. You will see farm land on both sides of the road and as you approach the light you will see a brick building on the right corner, which is Parkside Lanes. We share the parking lot with Parkside Lanes. We are the white building with the black domed roof.
Once again, these are general directions. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at (630) 898-5830.

There are several good reasons to take private lessons. But before exploring them, here's a question that you might want to answer first. "Are you sure that a class wouldn't give you what you want?" Classes are much less expensive, you will be in the company of others who share your interests, and you may discover that attending classes fits your needs adequately.
If your answer to the above is a variation of, "I want more," then please do consider private lessons. Personally, I took lessons from excellent coaches for several years and I have taught private lessons well over 20 years. Nothing is more stimulating than taking a lesson and discovering that you are, in fact, a better skater! For more insight and suggestions, please read the article I wrote some time ago.
Private lessons can assist you if, among many reasons, you are interested in:
- Skating safely on inline or quad skates
- Skating the dance sets during the sessions
- Taking speed or figure skating tests using the Achievement Test Program to measure your improvement
- Testing yourself in the competitive arena in roller (speed or figure) skating.
For more information call Dan Warner at the Aurora Skate Center (630-898-5830) or Roger Wampach, our Head Pro, (630) 404-2670 and we'll be happy to discuss private lessons with you and, if you wish, introduce you to our certified coaches.

As a member of the Roller Skating Association, International, we have adopted the following rules to improve the safety of our skaters and to articulate the responsibilitites of the host skating rink. Please read them carefully.
GENERAL RULES and GUIDELINES
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Roller skating is a strenuous and fast moving sport. By putting on skates and participating in this form of recreation, you are assuming the risk of an accident inherent in this and any similar sport. It is the nature of this recreation that people fall down or run into one another on occasion. If you are not willing to assume that risk, please do not roller skate here. If you doubt your ability to roller skate, please consider this notice before proceeding onto the floor. We can not be responsible for any injuries that occur to our patrons while they are present in this facility.
ALL SESSIONS ARE PROGRAMMED.
EVERYONE MUST CONFORM TO THE PROGRAM AS ANNOUNCED.
MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ASK ANYONE TO LEAVE AT ANY TIME. MANAGER'S DISCRETION.
During open, public sessions, we do not charge spectating parents or grandparents to be in the building. We do not allow any young people (excepting ages three or four and under) to be in the building without skates on. Most parents appreciate not needing to be concerned about young people who are "Hanging Out." Private parties have some flexibility with this policy.
NO REFUNDS
- NO CARRYING OR LIFTING CHILDREN WHILE ON SKATES AT ANY TIME!! The death of two children (fortunately, not in Illinois) is sufficient reason to affirm that there are no exceptions to this rule.
- Everyone must skate in the same direction as announced. Usually, that direction is counter clockwise.
- Do not cut across the center area of the floor set off by the center-black-line. The center area of the skating floor is for beginner skaters and those practicing backward skating. The pink track lines are for the derby teams and are not to be used to mark the center area.
- No standing still on the skating floor or by the floor wall. Do not climb over the wall or benches. No sitting on the tables or sidewalls.
- No pushing, fast skating, playing tag, standing along the wall, or suddenly stopping at any time on the skate floor is permitted as these actions will jeopardize the safety of other skaters.
- No one is allowed in the skate room (except Homeschool moms during the Homeschool session), behind the counters in the Novelty Shop, behind the snack bar, on the stage, or in the DJ booth.
- No outside food or drinks may be brought into the rink except for birthday cakes for registered birthday parties.
- Skaters (and guests) are expected to conduct themselves as Ladies and Gentlemen.
- All patrons must report any injuries to the management, regardless of the severity.
- Not responsible for accidents . . . . . Skate at your own risk!
- If you are pregnant or have a serious medical condition or injury that may be aggravated by exercise, please do not skate.
- Alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, or anyone under the influence will not be permitted on the premises. We do not confiscate illegal substances, we insist on an arrest.
- NO PROFANITY OR FIGHTING. Profanity and foul or abusive language or fighting will lead to immediate expulsion from the building and suspension for some period of time.
- No in-and-out privileges. No loitering on the property. Over 15 minutes on the property is considered loitering. Over three penalties is reason for permanent expulsion from the rink and property.
- All refreshments (food and drinks) must be consumed in the snack bar area.
- NO GUM CHEWING ALLOWED.
- The use of cell phones, IPods and the like for talking, texting, music, or video is not allowed on the skating floor. Please keep them in your pocket until you leave the skating floor.
- NO hats, headbands, bandanas, dewrags, party hats or any other head covering are permitted (this includes glasses worn on the top of your head and sweaters or backpacks wrapped around your waist or shoulders). Safety helmets with chin straps are acceptable.
- Loose articles such as purses, backpacks, clothing, etc., may not be worn or tied around your neck or waist.
- Cameras are not allowed on the skating floor except during special programs or at the discretion of management.
- Keep the snack bar seating area clear of all personal articles. Please use lockers for all personal property. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ARTICLES.
- NO SMOKING in the rink or front lobby. State law prohibits smoking by anyone under the age of 18.
- Skaters (and guests) are to be neatly groomed, clothes neat and clean. Halter or tube tops, half or mid-rib shirts and sleeveless jerseys are not allowed. Clothing with explicit language or graphic pictures are not permitted. Pant legs must not extend below the skate boot. Pants need to be pulled up at the waist and under garments should not be visible.
- NO SOCKS, NO SHOES . . . NO SKATES!
- Skates intended for toe stops MUST have toe stops or plugs on BEFORE entering the rink. We seek to maintain the condition of our floor by preventing skating plates or inline frames from digging into the floor. Inline skates (known by some as Rollerblades) and outdoor wheels must be cleaned before entering the rink. Inline skates must have all eight or ten wheels. This helps to protect the plastic coating used on our wood floor.
- No skates (quads or inlines) to be worn ENTERING or LEAVING the building. "Walk in, walk out."
- Please listen to the floor guards and employees as they are here for your safety and to insure all can have an enjoyable time.
- Infractions to the rules can lead to time outs or suspenson from the building.
- All skaters must be picked up by 11:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Any skaters left without rides will be turned over to the police or sherriff to be taken home. A citation is likely.
